his weekend, yoga teachers from all over Ireland are joining forces to draw attention to the researched health benefits of yoga.
As a lot of my own work is in healthcare, particularly mental health, this is a subject very close to my heart. I am privileged to witness the benefits of yoga in action and to hear from care providers how much patients in in-patent settings and service users in out-patient clinics report that they benefit from their yoga classes, not just during the time that I share with them but after they leave the class.
Yoga can play a very important role in supporting other interventions and therapies, in addition to a vital role in keeping those in the community well! Yoga is an extremely important part of my own self-care toolkit and gives me the confidence to know that whatever comes, I can turn to a practice that supports me.
You may have already taken some of the wonderful free classes on offer through the new Irish Federation of Yoga Teachers. While I can't take part live, I wanted to offer some classes here that you are free to use to practice any time this week.
You'll find a slow vinyasa practice (level 1-2) here:
If you'd like to do some yoga with your baby, you can try a class here:
And here you'll find a very accessible chair yoga class, which I made originally for a healthcare client. It's suitable for almost anyone and is a mindful practice that I hope you''ll enjoy:
